One of the most commonly asked question by a novice on control system is What is a Control system? To answer this question one has to know what is meant by system and what is meant by control and then one can define control system.
A. System : A system is an arrangement of some physical component connected or related in such a manner as to form and/or act an entire unit.
B. Control : The word control is usually taken to mean regulate,direct or command.
Combining the above definition one can now define control system as follows :

In most abstract sense it is posible to consider every physical object a control system. Everything alters its environment in some manner,if not actually then passively like a mirro directing a beam of light shining on it at some acute angle. The mirror,fig 1.1, may be considered an elementary control system controlling the beam of light according to simple equation the angle of reflection α equal the angle of incidence α.
